Doris Todd Christian Academy always invites applicants for PS-HS, provided there is space available. The number of openings is dependent on withdrawals, and is confirmed the end of February after reenrollment. Please ensure that all documentation is submitted by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications for the current school year will be considered on a space available basis.

HOW TO APPLY

The link below will take you to our Online Application for all grade levels from preschool through grade 12. Children need to be 3 years old by December 31 to enter the Preschool 3 class, 4 years old by July 31 to enter Preschool 4, and 5 years by July 31 to enter Kindergarten. Please make sure to print off all administrative/academic release forms to be filled out by your child's current school. 

We will start accepting applications for the 2025-2026 on November 1, 2024. The $100 application fee is non-refundable.

ONLINE APPLICATION

In order to complete the application process, please complete the checklist items listed below, including submission of all supplemental application forms. 

  • Submit completed Online Application and application fee of $100.
  • Submit a copy of Applicant’s Birth Certificate.
  • Forward Academic Release to student’s current school.
  • Forward Teacher Reference to student's current teacher.
  • Forward Administrative Reference to student's current school.
  • Read Health Information for the State of Hawaii.
  • Submit copy of Custody Agreement at Parent Interview, if applicable.
  • Schedule an appointment for Student Testing.
  • Schedule a Parent Interview.

2024-2025 APPLICATION SCHEDULE

Non-Discriminatory Notice: Doris Todd Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs, athletics and other school administered programs.

Applicants (K-8) are required to take an entrance test. The school office will contact parents to schedule a testing date.

TESTING

Once all application forms have been received and testing is complete, the school office will contact parents to schedule an admissions interview.

INTERVIEW

After applications, test results, recommendation forms, interviews, school grades, and other data are evaluated by the Admissions Committee; notification of the admission decision will be made. Upon acceptance, the Registration Fee must be paid within 15 calendar days of notification to hold a spot for the applicant. Admission notification continues as long as there are vacancies. Students in the waiting pool will be notified when an opening occurs.

You will find our tuition rates for the 2024-25 school year below.
*Please note that the Application Fee for the 2025-2026 school year is $100. This fee is non-refundable.

Tuition includes books, workbooks, yearbook, maintenance and gym fees. Uniforms must be purchased separately through Dennis Uniforms.

Financial Aid applications are available upon acceptance for grades K-12.

We gladly accept Preschool Open Doors and Puahi Keiki scholarships.

TUITION ASSISTANCE

Doris Todd Christian Academy is pleased to offer Financial Aid for students entering grades K - 12. Once a new student has been accepted, parents may apply for Financial Aid online. To receive the link to the application site, please email our bookkeeper. Your application will be submitted to our Financial Aid Committee for consideration for aid. Letters will then be sent out to notify parents if they will be awarded financial aid or not.

Families of students who qualify and receive financial aid are required to volunteer a minimum of twenty (20) hours during the school year. If you receive financial aid, you will need to record your hours in ParentsWeb. Please keep in mind that the Financial Aid Committee will consider your volunteer hours along with your application in March for future Tuition Assistance.
Preschool Open Doors and Puahi Keiki/Kipona Scholarships are gladly accepted!

PAuahi Keiki Scholarship

The Pauahi Keiki Scholars (PKS) program is a need-based scholarship program for eligible applicants who are planning to attend approved, non-Kamehameha Schools preschools in Hawaii. Applications are accepted by Kamehameha schools from (see their website for application dates). To apply for this scholarship, visit: www.ksbe.edu/programs.

Kipona Scholarship

The Kipona Scholarship (KS) is a need-based scholarship for eligible keiki who are applying to a KS-eligible private school in Hawai'i. Check their website for application dates/deadlines for returning/renewal students and for NEW scholarship applicants . Students of Hawaiian ancestry applying to K, 4, 7, and 9 may apply for the Kipona Scholarship. To apply for this scholarship, visit: www.ksbe.edu/programs.

Q: What are the school's hours?
A: School hours are 7:50am-2:15pm

Q: Do Students wear uniforms? 
A: Yes, students have specific uniforms that should be worn. They can be purchased through Dennis Uniforms. 

Q: Is financial aid available?

Q: Is DTCA accredited? 
A: DTCA is accredited through ACSI and WASC. 

Q: Are entrance tests required for admission? 
A: Yes, testing is conducted to determine the best placement for a student. 

Q: Does the school offer bus transportation? 
A: We currently do not offer bus transportation but have many families that opt to carpool together.

Q: How long does the application process usually take? 
A: The admissions process can take anywhere from 3-6 weeks. You can plan to have an admissions decision 2-3 weeks after the testing and parent interview has been conducted. This is just an estimate and is subject to change at any time.
